Terms of Use
By installing or using Skywave you agree to these terms. They’re short. Please read them.
Effective 2026-07-06 · Version 1.0
1. What Skywave is
Skywave is a media player for iOS that connects to Xtream Codes-compatible IPTV accounts. It is a player only. Skywave does not include, host, distribute, or aggregate streaming content, and does not provide any way to search for, discover, or share third-party stream URLs. The channels, movies, and series you see in Skywave come exclusively from whichever Xtream Codes provider you configure in the app.
2. Your responsibilities
You may use Skywave only with services and content you are authorized to access. That means:
- An IPTV subscription you legally hold with a legitimate provider, or
- Free-to-air / public-access / public-domain / Creative Commons content the license permits you to view, or
- A demo panel (like our sample panel accessed via the “Try sample content” button) whose operator has permitted use.
You are responsible for ensuring the streams you play in Skywave are ones you have the right to view under the laws of your jurisdiction. Skywave has no way of knowing whether the panel you configured is authorized to redistribute the streams it serves.
3. Licence to use Skywave
Skywave grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and run Skywave on any iOS device you own or control. You may not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except to the limited extent applicable law expressly permits it.
- Modify or create derivative works of the app (this does not restrict your rights under the LGPL over the embedded VLCKit framework — see §7).
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices.
- Use the app in a way that violates applicable law or infringes the rights of others.
4. Third-party content and services
Skywave interoperates with third-party services (your IPTV provider, TMDB for movie/series metadata, ESPN for public sports scores). Skywave has no control over their availability, content, or terms. Broadcaster names and logos referenced anywhere in Skywave — whether shown by your provider or by the sample panel — are the property of their respective owners.
5. Family Sync
Family Sync is an optional feature that lets you share accounts and preferences with people in your household via end-to-end encrypted synchronisation. If you invite someone into a Family Sync household, you represent that they are within your household or a person you’re authorized to share your provider access with. Skywave is not responsible for what household members do with a shared account.
6. No warranty
Skywave is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. We don’t warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every IPTV panel. Playback quality depends on your network, your provider, and the specific stream — not on Skywave alone.
7. Open-source components
Skywave embeds the VideoLAN VLCKit media framework, licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 2.1. VLCKit is distributed unmodified inside the app bundle as a dynamic library; its source is available at code.videolan.org/videolan/VLCKit. Skywave’s VLCKit fork (identical to the upstream VLCKit 4.0.0-alpha.19 plus specific audio-tolerance patches) is at github.com/jdistler/skywave-vlckit. Your rights under the LGPL are not diminished by these terms.
Other third-party attributions are listed inside the app at Accounts → About Skywave.
8. Availability
We may update Skywave, change or remove features, or discontinue the service at our discretion. We’ll try to give notice for material changes.
9. Termination
You can stop using Skywave at any time by deleting it from your device. We may terminate this licence if you materially breach these terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions.
